Craft Project - Valentine's Day Garlandby Wen Zientek-Sico This fun and easy project makes for a wonderful decoration or gift perfect for Valentine's Day. It is very inexpensive to make and quick and easy too! |
Valentine's Day Garland This simple and cute garland is a fun craft for children of all ages to help make. If you have store bought or homemade Valentine's, they can be used in place of the hearts or with the hearts for a more personalized garland. Valentine's Day colored yarn or string can also be used in place of the ribbon. For a bit more decorative and time intensive project, use crayons, decorative edge scissors, stickers, markers, stamps, and heart shaped pieces of paper to add more decoration to the hearts before or after adding the candy. Adding photos of your loved ones to the garland is also a fun addition!
Card stock in assorted colors Scissors Hole punch Ribbon Glue or paste Assorted Valentine candy
Using the scissors, cut a variety of hearts in different shapes and sizes from the card stock. Fold each heart in half lengthwise and using the hole punch, create two evenly spaced holes for hanging. String the hearts onto the ribbon, threading the ribbon into the heart from the top left side and passing underneath the heart and exiting through the bottom right side in order not to block the hearts. Once all of the hearts have been threaded onto the ribbon, tie a decorative bow on each end. Using glue or paste, glue a few pieces of lightweight Valentine candy on each heart. Let the glue dry thoroughly and then hang in a favorite place.
