Chanukkah Candle Lamp
Younger children are oftentimes disappointed that they cannot participate in lighting the menorah. Let them create and decorate their own special little candle lamp to use during this special season. Using a battery operated or electric candle makes this project safe for children of all ages to enjoy.
1 small light shade designed to fit over the light bulb on an electric or battery operated candle Pencil (optional) Blue paint pen Silver paint pen Star of David stencil (optional) 18 inches 1/8 inch wide silver rope trim Two pins Craft glue Safety scissors 1 battery operated or electric candle
Cover the work surface thoroughly with a layer of newspapers. Decide what type of design you want to use on the lamp before marking the design with paint pens. If desired, draw the pattern on the shade with a pencil to make sure everything will fit. Our design features the phrase "Happy Chanukkah" and two Stars of David on each side, one side done in silver and one side done in blue. You can draw the Stars of David by hand, or use a stencil if desired. Let the paint dry thoroughly before adding the trim. Pin one end of the trim to the top of the shade. Wrap the trim around the top of the shade and pin it to the shade so that it lines up with the other end. Carefully cut the trim with the scissors. Start at one end and carefully glue the trim to the shade. Repeat with the bottom of the shade. Let the shade dry thoroughly before using. Place the shade on the candle and use as desired.
