Patriotic Paper Plate Holder

Paper plate holders are very useful, and almost every household has a bunch. But they are so boring! We picked up a bunch of extra plate holders to decorate for different holidays, as they are very reasonably priced at a quarter apiece and don't take up too much storage room. They add lots of panache and are sure to garner lots of positive comments all summer long. We purchased blue paper plate holders, but if you cannot find them, or want to work with holders you already have, simply spray paint the holders blue, or use a natural background. They will still look great!

1 blue wicker paper plate holder

Large brush

White acrylic paint

Small brush

Blue acrylic paint

Red acrylic paint

Patriotic stencil

Cover your work surface thoroughly with newspaper. Using the large brush, paint a five inch wide white circle in the center of the plate holder. Let the paint dry thoroughly. Using the small brush, paint the rim of the plate holder in alternating red, white, and blue colors as shown in the photo. Let the paint dry. Using the stencil, or drawing freehand, add a patriotic design to the center of the plate. Let the paint dry thoroughly before using.
