This star makes a great design to be used for many different projects. We used stars in this size to decorate tablecloths, jeans, jackets, hats, and much more. They also make perfect table cloth weights for picnics and cookouts. Five inch stars make wonderful coasters for indoor parties, and smaller stars made from the same pattern also make great decorations. We used felt as a backing for our stars, but any fabric that will not unravel at the edges can be used, or you can just sew the beads directly onto a large piece of fabric for tablecloths and clothing.

Place the stencil on the felt and trace the pattern onto the felt with the fabric pencil. Cut out the pattern carefully with the scissors. Thread the needle with a few inches of the beading thread. Starting at the center of the star, sew a red bead to the felt. Make a circle of blue beads around the red bead. Make a circle of white beads around the blue beads. Make a circle of red beads around the white beads. Repeat until you get to the points of the star, tying off your thread and rethreading your needle as needed. Starting with one point of the star, alternate lines of red, white, and blue until you reach the end. Anchor your thread well and tie it off. Repeat with the remaining points.
