Red Starry Placemat This cheerful placemat adds a nice touch to any holiday table. The stars circle your plate adding a special accent to dinner and lots of color to your party. This is a great project for children to work on, and the placemats are quick and easy to assemble. The supplies below are what you will need to make one placemat, just multiply as needed to make additional placemats. We used precut foam shapes, but you can easily cut your own shapes from sheets of foam as needed.
1 12 inch by 18 inch sheet of thin red foam
4 large blue foam stars
4 large yellow foam stars
10 large white foam stars
Glue
Choose the most unblemished side of the foam to be the top of your placemat. Arrange the stars on the placemat, following the pattern in the photo. We placed a blue star in each corner, and a yellow star two and a half inches further into the center from the blue star. Arrange three white stars on the top so that they are evenly spaced. Repeat with three more stars on the bottom, and two stars apiece for the sides. Once you have a layout that you like, glue on the stars. Let the glue dry thoroughly before using.
