Craft Project - Small Patriotic Stripes Beaded Star by Wen Zientek-Sico This simple beaded star makes for a great first beading project for a young sewer or a good project for an experienced beader looking to add some patriotic colors to a tablecloth, napkins, clothing, or other project.

Small Patriotic Stripes Beaded Star This gaily striped beaded star is a cute design for clothing, tablecloths, hats, napkins, or anyplace else you might want to add some patriotic charm. I even made a pair for earrings along with a matching pin made with slightly larger beads. We beaded onto white felt and then cut out the pattern, but this pattern works best sewn directly onto the fabric you will be using the star on.
White felt or other background fabric
Beading needle
Beading thread
Red seed beads
White seed beads
Blue seed beads
Scissors
Thread the needle with a few inches of the beading thread. Starting at the top center of where you want the star to be, sew a red bead to the felt. Follow the remaining pattern using the first red bead as a reference and as the center line for the star, rethreading your needle as needed. To make sure the beads line up correctly, we threaded the needle through each line of beads to line them up neatly, tying off the thread at the end of every line for added stability. Once you have aligned all the beads, anchor your thread well and tie it off. Trim the fabric if needed with the scissors, being careful not to cut any of the beading thread.
