Souper Dad Pencil Holder Do you have a Souper…er, I mean Super Dad? If so, this really cute project will be wonderful for him. Children really love making it (in between giggles) and everyone who sees it just has to smile. This project also makes a great utensil holder for the kitchen or other container to hold change or other things if Dad doesn't need a pencil holder.
1 very clean empty soup can
White acrylic paint
Red acrylic paint
Paint brush
Color photocopy of a photo of Dad
Decoupage glue
White acrylic paint pen
Red acrylic paint pen
Black acrylic paint pen
Varnish or acrylic sealant (optional)
Cover your work surface with newspapers. Paint the bottom half of the can with white paint. Let dry and paint with an additional coat if needed. Let dry again. Paint the top half and inside of the can with the red paint. Let dry and paint with an additional coat if needed. Let dry again. Affix the photo to the center of the can with the decoupage glue. Let the glue dry completely. Add your last name to the top of the can with the white pen. Below that add a favorite description of your Dad with the black pen in all capitals. (We chose contented as a play on words, but you can choose a favorite description of your Dad if you want.) Below Dad's photo add your name for your father in red pen. Below that write "SOUPER" with the black pen. Let all of the paint dry thoroughly. Cover the whole can with at least one coat of decoupage glue to protect it. If desired, seal it with varnish or sealant for further protection.
