Basketball Box Your favorite hoops fan will delight in this simple project. Fun for small kids to make, and a great project for scout troops and other groups of kids, this project is quick and easy. Smaller or larger round boxes can be used, and a tower of these boxes in assorted sizes makes great storage for your favorite slugger. If you do not have a black paint pen, black acrylic paint and a very fine brush can be used instead.
8 inch round papier mache or wood box
Paint brush
Reddish brown acrylic paint
Black acrylic paint pen
Varnish or sealer (optional)
Cover your work surface with newspaper. Paint the round box with a coat of the reddish brown acrylic paint. Let dry for at least an hour (or as long as the paint directions specify). Apply a second coat and let dry for at least an hour. Once the paint is dry, add the basketball detail to the top of the box as shown in the photo using the black paint pen. We used a five inch circle and a ruler to draw the straight and rounded lines perfectly. Let dry thoroughly. Spray or brush on varnish or sealer if desired. Let dry thoroughly in between coats.
